During the Pokemon Direct this morning, The Pokemon Company’s Tsunekazu Ishihara kicked things off by announcing Pokkén Tournament DX for the Nintendo Switch. A deluxe version of the fighting game that appeared on the Nintendo Wii U and in arcades, this installment offers a new kind of fights and more playable Pokémon.
The Nintendo Switch version of Pokkén Tournament DX will allow two people to play on one system. Fights can even include 3v3 battles, where each person chooses three Pokémon to play with. Online match options include Ranked, Friendly, and Group Matches. It will also include 19 playable characters, with Croagunk, Darkrai, Empoleon, and Scizor coming over from the arcade version and Decidueye joining the cast for the first time. (Though, the official Twitter account says over 20 will appear.)
Pokkén Tournament DX will have a presence at E3 2017. A playable demo will be available at Nintendo’s booth. Also, the 2017 Pokkén Tournament Invitational tournament will be held at 10:30am PT on June 14, 2017.
Pokken Tournament is immediately available for the Nintendo Wii U and in arcades.
