Poltchageist Polteageist Variant Joining Pokemon Scarlet and Violet (Update)

When the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet The Teal Mask DLC arrives, it will bring the Polteageist variant Poltchageist with it. Nintendo and The Pokemon Company International released a new trailer worldwide revealing it. It is set in a festival-like setting, with a rakugo performer telling the story behind this ghostly character. Update: Nintendo confirmed this is an entirely new Pokemon and not a Polteageist variant.

This “The Haunting Tale of Poltchageist” story features the story of a demanding tea master. His demeanor drove everyone away. His tea caddy then passed from generation to generation, before becoming the ghostly pokemon. It became a grass and ghost-type Pokemon, which would go to people attempting to give tea. However, if people don’t show proper respect, the Pokemon will sap their strength and steal it. It also has a habit of using its macha to seal cracks.

Sinistea and Polteageist are both already available in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ahead of the new character’s debut. It’s uncertain if this also means there will be a Sinistea-like equivalent to go with this new character, or if it doesn’t evolve from any other Pokemon.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is available for the Nintendo Switch, and The Teal Mask DLC will arrive on September 13, 2023. All past starters will return in the DLC eventually as well.
