Populous plus touch screen controls

Electronic Arts dug Populous out of their archives because every franchise needs a touch screen revival. Peter Molyneux’s god game is coming back with touch screen controls, wireless play and no Molyneux since he is probably too busy with his own studio to worry about a DS version of an eighteen year old game. Unlike other DS revivals, Populous might actually benefit from the transition. The touch screen can easily mimic the mouse set up from the PC version, which should be better than the clunky interface found in other console ports. Japan gets it on February 21, 2008 while Electronic Arts has yet to announce a North American release date. I wouldn’t worry about the lack of a release date though. An international release seems very likely considering Populous originated in the West!
