During the Nintendo Direct on September 9, 2026, Nintendo showed a trailer for Professor Layton and the New World of Steam that also included the game’s official release date. It’ll come out on December 10, 2026, following Level-5’s promise we would see the game in late 2026.
In the trailer, we see some clips of Layton and Luke on their new adventure in Steam Bison, a town of inventions. We can also see an example of the puzzles that you’ll need to solve. According to the trailer, this game will feature the “biggest collection of puzzles in series history.” There weren’t as many teasers as to what to expect from the story in this latest update, however.

The game was supposed to come out in 2025, before it got delayed to December 2026. It will also be a multiplatform affair. This comes after multiple delays hit the project.
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam will come out on December 10, 2026 for the PS5, Switch, Switch 2, and Windows PC.
