Punch Planet is a fighter that lets players take their character back up to one whole second in a match, using it to correct mistakes, avoid a hit, or set up unique combos.
An undercover detective finds himself framed for murder, and his only lead is on Planet K-O, a planet filled with fighters looking for a scrap. There, he’ll need to tangle with the planet’s galactic denizens in order to hunt down the real culprit and clear his name. Not that the other fighters there intend to make it easy, challenging him at every turn.
Punch Planet offers a time-shifting mechanic players can use to travel back up to a second in a match. Using this, they can avoid damage they would have taken, shift out of the way of hits, move themselves to a more favorable position during a combo, or just break away from a mistake. This is tied to a charging meter, though, so players cannot endlessly time shift.
Punch Planet, in its current state, offers local and online matches with four available fighters, as well as a training mode that allows recording and shows off hitboxes so players can work on their fighting skills. A story mode, arcade mode, and trial mode, as well as four more fighters, are in development and will be added later.
Punch Planet is available now on Steam Early Access.
