Quiz Magic Academy is big in Japan. OK, it’s not as huge as Metal Gear Solid or Castlevania, but Quiz Magic Academy is prominently featured in arcades. There is a connection between Quiz Magic Academy and the Metal Gear Solid series too. After four arcade installments the Quiz Magic Academy series is getting a console port and it’s only for the Nintendo DS.

Konami plans on releasing Quiz Magic Academy DS in September and it mostly sticks to the established formula. The game is a versus quiz game where players compete to answer questions correctly and quickly. Of course this wouldn’t be fun playing against an omnipotent computer opponent so Konami has an option to play Quiz Magic Academy DS over Nintendo Wi-Fi with up to eight players. New questions will also be transmitted wirelessly, so you won’t be stuck answering the same questions about fruit. The game also links up to arcade versions of Quiz Magic Academy V, which have not been released yet.

If you can't go online you're stuck with Academy Mode, a new feature where you get to challenge members of the Quiz Academy in a series of missions. It's you versus computer controlled opponents who hold all of the answers on the game card.
