Irem may not be making any more R-Type games, but they have no problem licensing their classic shoot ’em up. DotEmu made a deal with Irem to bring the Bydo Empire to Android devices.

R-Type for Android is a direct port of the arcade game with touch screen controls. Players can grab a force and fire it through eight levels then register their top score to online leaderboards using OpenFeint.
R-Type comes out on September 12.
