Rei Ayanami Plamax Model Kits Will Have 2 Hair Choices

Good Smile Company revealed new Plamax model kits featuring Rei Ayanami from the Rebuild of Evangelion series. The plastic model kits will be available in multiple versions. Other than the regularly known appearance with short hair and neutral facial expression, the company will also release a separate alternative set with long hair and a smiling face. They will appear in Japan in April 2024 and North America in Q3 2024.

Both the regular and long-haired versions of Rei Ayanami’s model kits are available to pre-order on the Good Smile Online Shop US site at $49.99 for US and Canadian residents. Pre-orders made via Good Smile Company’s own website will also come with a clear hair runner to produce more glossy hair in the finished kit. The unpainted Sculptor’s White editions are only available on the global storefront at ¥9,800 / $63.99.

Rei Ayanami is set to follow in the footsteps of Asuka Shikinami Langley and Mari Makinami Illustrious, who had earlier received their own Plamax model kits. While Asuka and Mari’s kits also had Sculptor’s White versions, Rei will be the only one who comes with alternative hair variants.

Good Smile Company will close pre-orders for the Plamax model kits of Rei Ayanami at noon on October 26, 2023, in Japan (October 25, 2023, at 11 PM EDT). It will ship the packages to Japan in April 2024 and North America in Q3 2024.
