Rengeki Hero Is Part JRPG Part Shmup (aka King’s Knight For A New Generation)

Ah good old D3 Publisher is back with a unique Simple Series game called Rengeki Hero. This downloadable Nintendo 3DS game has the look and feel of a JRPG, but it plays like an action shooter. Rengeki Hero puts players up against countless monsters that you blast away at. It almost feels like an early Squaresoft title, King’s Knight.

Defeating enemies levels your character up. You also have two spirits, Sylph and Ifrit, that can do super attacks too. There are three types of characters in Rengeki Hero, a warrior, sorcerer, and archer.  Players will meet giant bosses like the Oak King, Skeleton Knight, and Demon.

Rengeki Hero is out now as an eShop download for Nintendo 3DS in Japan.
