February 20th is a day that’s been keeping the rumor mills buzzing, with Sony expected to announce the PlayStation 4. Major Japanese news publishers, Asahi Shimbun and Nikkei, have more to report in advance of the event.

According to Asahi, the PlayStation 4 will be released with a price tag of over 40,000 yen (over $400) in Japan, which is lower than the original price of the PlayStation 3, which cost 50,000 yen for the 20GB model.

In addition to the report, both publications also mention that the new console’s controller is going to retain the same shape as its PlayStation 3 counterpart, but will have a touchpad built into it as well.

Finally, the Asashi Shimbun mentions that the new console will be available in Japan and the U.S. before the end of the year. We expect to be hearing more about it during Sony’s PlayStation meeting in New York on February 20th.
