Eager Resident Evil fans found other ways of getting the demo early before the data “mysteriously” corrupted if you were playing outside of Japan. That was a bummer, but everyone in North America will get a chance to play the Resident Evil 5 demo soon. On January 26 Xbox 360 owners get the two level demo which lets players explore Shanty Town and Assembly Place – the two stages in the Japanese demo released back in December.
Capcom explains the exclusivity is for one week in their press release which likely means the Resident Evil 5 demo will appear as a PlayStation Network download a week later. Not so bad compared to what happened in Japan. They never got a downloadble Resident Evil 5 demo. Sony bundled it on a Blu-ray disc with demos of other “adult” games like Metal Gear Solid 4 and gave it to people purchasing new PS3 hardware. Good thing we don’t have to jump through that hoop.
