Back in July 2025, Type-Moon and HoYoVerse kicked off a Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works crossover event in Honkai: Star Rail, and now it will expand in 2026 with mage Rin Tohsaka and Servant Gilgamesh. That starts on July 24, 2026, which is when the 4.4 update arrives. When the event returns, people will also be able to get the existing crossover character Archer or new one Gilgamesh for free.
Details about some of the Fate/Stay Night characters already showed up, as did official art of the new five-star Honkai: Star Rail characters Rin and Gilgamesh. She will only be available via banners. Her path is Erudition, which means she’s focused on AOE damage. She’ll deal Quantum damage. This will make her the second character game like that, as the 2.3 unit Jade is also a five-star Erudition unit tied to that element.
Meanwhile, Gilgamesh almost seems like he could be an “all-rounder” kind of character. This is because he’ll follow the Destruction path and deal Lightning damage. These are units focused on causing damage, and their kit often includes attacks that hit both single enemies and groups. When he arrives, he’ll be the first five-star unit of that type in-game. Arlan, a four-star unit who’s been around since launch, is the only other Destruction character who deals Lightning damage.
Here are the official images of both characters:

The original event featured both Saber and Archer as the playable characters. So we’d only seen Servants until now and no Mages. In addition to the playable characters, there was an event-exclusive side-story that took place on Penacony and involved Honkai: Star Rail characters competing in a Holy Grail War of their own.
Honkai: Star Rail is available for the PS5, PC, and mobile devices, and both Rin and Gilgamesh will join in a new Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works event that starts on July 24, 2026. People will only be able to get a free Archer or Gilgamesh between the 4.4 launch on July 24, 2026 and when the 4.6 version ends.
