There are a number of Rune Factory 3 Special love interests who aren’t human, and Pia is one of them. Simply put, she’s a mermaid who runs the baths at Shino’s Miyako Inn. It’s also very easy to start building a relationship with her.
Where do you find Pia in Rune Factory 3 Special?
Odds are, Pia will be at or around the inn and bathhouse. She does work there, after all. If it is between 10am and 10pm, she’ll likely be inside.
As you’d expect from a mermaid, Pia likes to go on a date to an area with a lot of water. If she’s accompanying you somewhere, take her to Oddward’s Rainbow Falls.
What gifts should you give Pia in Rune Factory 3 Special
Pia is so easy to romance, because two of her most loved categories of liked gifts aren’t difficult to acquire. To get in the good graces of this Rune Factory 3 Special love interest, give her either fruit or fish. So you can head to Privera forest and pick some apples, getting like three from a single tree, and be set for gifts for her for a few days. She’ll also accept any kind of fish, once you get the fishing rod from helping Carmen with her first request during the first week of the game.
If you really want to get her a gift she loves, then any squid dish you make in your kitchen will be an instant win. For example, using a squid in a frying pan for fried squid or a squid with a knife for squid sashimi.
Just never give Pia a cooked recipe involving fish that isn’t squid. She’ll hate you for killing that fish.

How to trigger heart events with Pia in Rune Factory 3 Special
While most Rune Factory 3 Special love interests stick with mailing you requests after the first one at the bulletin board, this one is a bit different. As you get closer to Pia, you’ll need to check your billboard and mailbox both.
Here’s the list of requests connected to heart events for Pia:
- 1 Heart: Bulletin Board request. Go to Pia to talk and answer bath census questions. Tell her how you like your bath water temperature (hot), what color you want the water (white or tan), and how you want the water to feel (silky). Really, any response is fine. This only appears after getting the fishing pole from Carmen’s request.
- 2 Hearts: Bulletin Board request. She wants a squid. You can catch this in any season at the village and all four dungeons..
- 3 Hearts: Mailbox request. Visit Pia at the inn.
- 4 Hearts: Mailbox request. She wants a strong string, which I got as a drop from spiders in the Privera Forest.
- 5 Hearts: Bulletin Board request. Visit Pia at the inn.
- 6 Hearts: Bulletin Board request. Catch a squid, cook it in the frying pan to make fried squid, and bring it to Pia.
- 7 Hearts: Mailbox request. Go to Oddward’s Cavern Pond with Pia.
- 8 Hearts: Mailbox request. Pia needs a Charm Blue flower. This grows in fall, so have one ready.
- 9 Hearts: Mailbox request. Visit her at the inn.
