Rym 9000 is a shmup of speed, using various visual and audio effects to give the player the sense that they are hurtling through space at an incredibly high pace.
Rym 9000, according to the developer, is a “hyperkinetic vertical shooter designed
to make your eyes bleed the colors of a glitchspace super rainbow.” Using screen shake, vibrating character sprites, and various visual tricks, it seeks to trick the eye into thinking it is flying along at a breakneck pace as players shoot down various ships and enemies.
By shooting enemy ships, players can build up point combos, all while creating a dizzying array of explosions and bursts of points to add to the game’s already-intense visuals.
The game’s visual effects can be seen in effect on the game’s Itch.io page, where players can download the free demo of Rym 9000’s third stage. Players can also sign up there to know when the full game will become available.
