Samurai & Dragons Is Free To Play, But Still Coming To Stores

Sega has a unique marketing strategy for Samurai & Dragons. The game is basically a PlayStation Vita version of Kingdom Conquest, a popular iOS game that blends dungeon crawling and town building.

Samurai & Dragons will be available in Japan on March 29 as a PlayStation Store download… for free. Sega plans on monetizing the game through item sales. Prices for digital items were not announced in Famitsu.

On April 26, Samurai & Dragons will be re-released in retail stores as part of a Deluxe Package. This bundle includes the game plus the following virtual items: four 100CP tickets, four CP discount tickets, four commander tickets, four extra tickets, and four friend tickets. CP is in-game money.

Before either version comes out, users can sample Samurai & Dragons by participating in a closed beta test. Sega will start registering users on January 26 (Japan time).
