Back in July 2017, Samurai Shodown V Special was announced for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. Now, it has an actual release date. It will appear in North America and Europe on September 12, 2017. It will be a cross-buy and cross-play game.

Samurai Shodown V Special is a complete version of the game that is uncensored. It includes online multiplayer, online leaderboards, a gallery, trophies, and the ability to choose the menu background music. The PlayStation Blog also goes over a number of techniques people can make use of in the game, like Blade Catch to catch and disarm an opponent, Deflect to parry attacks, special movements like a forward leap, lie down, or short hop, and the Suicide command that forfeits the round in exchange for keeping your Rage buff and timer for the next round.
