Sazh And Mog Also Return For Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII

What happened to Sazh? In Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII he lives in an a crashed airship he converted into a house. For hundreds of years, Sazh has been tormented since he wasn’t able to save his son, Dajh, who collapsed and has not awakened since.

This is a different Sazh than we saw in Final Fantasy XIII who was a cheerful character with an easy going personality. Sazh’s goal is to revive his son, but Dajh cannot awaken because his soul is in another place and Lumina may have something to do with this. In the game, Lightning will run into a baby blue chocobo who has clues on how to save Dajh.

Even though hundreds of years have passed, Mog from Final Fantasy XIII-2 hasn’t changed a bit. Mog regrets not being able to protect Serah, but Lightning forgives him. After XIII-2, Mog was sucked into a vortex of chaos and wandered in the Void Beyond. In Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, Mog is the leader of Moogle Village.

New garb called Heartstealer was revealed, which arms Lightning with a rapier. This outfit makes Lightning more agile and gives her an edge when evading attacks.

Army of One is one of Lightning’s abilities that can be activated when she freezes time by using Overclock. This lets Lightning do a barrage of attacks while you switch between the three types of garb you have equipped.

The Wildlands is the fourth continent in Nova Chrysalia and the last wilderness in the dying world. This area has a vibe similar to Gran Pulse where monsters run free and forests to run through. You can find the Moogle Village in this area and the Wildlands Station which is carved into the mountain.

Players will also find a white chocobo in the Wildlands that only response to Lightning. This wounded chocobo is called the "Angel of Valhalla" and Lightning saved it from a monster attack. You can help nurse the chocobo back to health by collecting gyshal greens from villagers.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII comes out on February 11 in North America and February 14 in Europe.
