SCEE hints at a PSP PSN push

Shortly after we discovered the PlayStation Network Collection Packs for the PSP, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe shot out a press release officially announcing them without a price. Old news, I know. It’s the tail end of the statement that is interesting.

The Puzzle Pack and Power Pack are set to hit stores in October 2008, with more Collection Packs to be released throughout 2009. PLAYSTATION®Network Collection Packs are exclusive to PSP.

If Sony plans to release more PlayStation Network Collections in 2009 they obviously need more PlayStation Network games. We know of two currently in development Everyday Shooter and Super Stardust Portable, but those games don’t even fit the “themed packs with three PLAYSTATION Network titles on one UMD” rule for a Playstation Network Collection disc. Add the direct from Wi-Fi PSP Store to the picture and it seems like the PSP game drought will be quenched with a torrent of downloadable games.
