Back in July 2019, Studio MDHR announced a Netflix Cuphead cartoon, called The Cuphead Show, would be coming to the streaming service. Now, Netflix has shared a (very brief) behind the scenes look at the show. The animators behind the show and voice actors who will bring Cuphead and Mugman to life were all introduced.

The video began with Executive Producer Dave Wasson setting the stage for the Cuphead cartoon and describing its hero as a “lovable scamp.” King Features Executive Producer CJ Kettler then pointed to how The Cuphead Show uses the “Fleischer style” of animation made popular by Fleischer Studios and its Screen Songs, Betty Boop, and Popeye the Sailor cartoons.

From there, we get to “meet” Cuphead and Mugman. Cuphead will be portrayed by Tru Valentino, who previously appeared in Fast & Furious Spy Racers and My Delivery Guy. Frank Todaro, who has played Starscream in multiple Transformers cartoons and various characters in Lupin III and Granblue Fantasy: The Animation, will be Mugman.

Here’s the full video clip showing off Netflix’s Cuphead cartoon. It comes in at just under a minute, but still manages to tell people a lot about the upcoming show.

The Cuphead Show is in development and will appear on Netflix. Cuphead is available on the Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
