Sega announces Vikings as envisioned by Australia

Remember last week how we probed around to discover Viking: The Battle of Asgard? The game is in development and it is not Senjou no Valkyria. The title is being handled by the Creative Assembly who developed the Total War series. However, the game sounds less like an RTS and more like Norse God of War.

You take control of Skarin who is “a plaything of the gods rebelling against their selfish agenda. The definitive Viking warrior.” Hmm… sound familiar? Viking: The Battle of Asgard draws heavily from Norse mythology and adds in a “brutal combat engine” where you can dismember enemies. Ring any bells?  Even if the Creative Assembly was inspired by God of War they are developing new features such as dragon riding and a loyalty system where you free and fight alongside fellow Vikings.

Sega plans to publish Viking: The Battle of Asgard in Europe on the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC in early 2008.
