Sega Fes 2019 is set to take place from March 30-31, 2019 this year at Bellesalle Akihabara in Japan, and Sega has announced that among the events during Sega Fes this year is a fan meet-up and a special stage event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Sega Saturn console.

The stage event will have key staff responsible for the console and other relevant industry people share their memories of working on the Saturn. Among them is Segata Sanshiro, mascot of the console in Japan, who is also known by his secret identity Hiroshi Fujioka when off duty.

Interestingly, as the console reaches its 25th anniversary, there are various Saturn game-related projects that are currently in development. Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei got remakes announced in December last year; Sakura Wars started on Saturn and is getting a new game made by Sonic Team/Sega CS2; and the first three Virtual-On games, of which the first game Virtual On: Cyber Troopers started on Saturn, have been announced to be getting PS4 ports that are in development.

While the event itself is bound to be focused on the history of the console, it wouldn’t be surprising to see news on either of these projects, or even something new, at the fan event.

Sega Fes 2019 will be held from March 30-31, 2019 in Japan.
