This article is over 17 years old and may contain outdated information

Hardcore Gaming 101 has a detailed look back at the history of Shadowrun games starting with the SNES game where the main character has no memory and the darker Genesis RPG. The Genesis game never reached Japan due to coding issues. Instead Japan got their own Shadowrun game, developed by Complie  who is known for the Puyo Puyo series. One of the most interesting parts in the article is before the Xbox 360 game was announced FASA Studios was working on a series of Shadowrun games.
