The new anime will cover everything from the start all the way to the end of the manga. It will be based on the 35 volumes from the complete manga edition of Shaman King which will release in Japan on June 17, 2020.

The original Shaman King manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from June 1998 to August 2004. It had a 64-episode TV anime series which originally aired from July 2001 to September 2002 in Japan. The English dubbed version premiered in September 2003 on 4Kids TV (formerly FoxBox) and ended in September 2005.

Shaman King follows a shaman named Yoh Asakura who is a medium between the worlds of the living and dead. His goal is to become the “Shaman King” who is capable to contact the Great Spirit (King of Spirits), the strongest of all spirits. The power granted by the Great Spirit allows the Shaman King to basically shape the world any way they’d like. However, in order to do so, Yoh must compete against other shamans in the “Shaman Fight”, a competitive event between Shamans that only takes place every 500 years.

The new Shaman King anime will air in April 2021.
