Should You Pay the Debt in the Sand Land Saving Sis Quest

In Sand Land, “Saving Sis” is a sidequest you’ll come across around the middle half of the game, which requires you to help out two sisters in trouble with some dangerous bandits. This guide will explain whether you should Pay the Debt in Sand Land or not and which choice will get you the best result.

Where to start Saving Sis quest in Sand Land

Saving Sis will become available to pick up after starting the main quest, “Headin’ South,” with Ann in your party. Simply go to the Aro Village Ruins and look for a woman called Uzume, she should be marked with a question mark even from the map screen.

As a reminder, you will have passed the Aro Village Ruins during the early parts of the game. You should find it north and slightly to the west of Talbo and will likely have the fast travel point to zip right there or at least close by.

How to complete Saving Sis in Sand Land

Upon talking with Uzume, she will explain the situation with the inherited debt and ask you to get her sister Terasu back from their debtors, the Diamonds gang. They’re not far, a short journey northeast of your location, standing at the mouth of a cave. Approach them to initiate a conversation. After Beelzebub and the bandit leader finish debating the finer points of contractual labor, you’ll be given a choice: offer to save up and pay off the girls’ original debt yourself or refuse.

Both choices lead to a fight and the same rewards, but if you want the “good” ending to this quest, you should offer to foot the bill. The thieves will not accept this (and you won’t actually lose any money) and attack. Dispatch these goons, and a cutscene will see the sisters reunited back at the ruins before deciding to move to Spino. You’ll be rewarded with 650 zeni and a V2 Engine for use on motorbike vehicles, completing the Sand Land sidequest Saving Sis.

Should you choose not to offer to pay, you will receive the “bad ending”. You will enter the same fight against bandits, but afterward, you will need to go find Terasu inside instead of her coming out to you. Talk to her to begin a cutscene where Belz and co. will explain why they came before being interrupted by a scream.

The crew will go outside to find the fleeing bandit leader has killed Uzume in a panic. Investigate the body, and Terasu will confirm her sister’s death. She is horrified but still rewards you, and you can tell her to come live in Spino to try and start a new life. You will receive the same 650 Zeni and motorbike engine reward, but the desert will be a lonelier place.

Ultimately, the choice is yours, especially since the rewards are the same, but whichever you choose will complete the sidequest Saving Sis in Sand Land.

Sand Land is available now on PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X.
