Assassin’s Creed Shadows throws a lot at the player as soon as they start this massive open-world RPG set in Japan. In terms of the options, one of the main options is Guided Exploration, which sounds great for exploring the vast world. But there are some parts of Guided Exploration that make it confusing for use in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

What Is Guided Exploration?
Guided Exploration is one of the major settings you can turn on when first starting the game. It is also possible to turn this on later while playing, if you change your mind. That said, there are some notable parts about this option you should know about. What this setting does is effectively make it much easier to navigate the world.
Normally, the world is a challenge to explore. You don’t get exact coordinates to where a person or objective is found most of the time. Instead, you have to either manually find it yourself using context clues or sending out Scouts to find it. It is a tricky system that is a bit different from past titles. Guided Exploration makes everything much easier and straightforward like past games.

Should You Turn On Guided Exploration in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
While Guided Exploration does make navigating Japan much easier in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you may not want to turn it on. There are some trophies and achievements that you cannot get while this feature is on. If you care at all about achievements, you will not want to ever used this feature.
In addition, I find the game is quite fun with just the clues. Scouts make it easy to find objectives as well, if you are having issues. This title is much more immersive and enjoyable if you play without everything being shown to you. It is a unique change of pace, especially compared to past games, so I don’t recommend Guided Exploration to anyone unless you truly don’t care about achievements.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is available right now for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
