Should You Wait for Xiaoyu’s Message in Wuthering Waves?

One of the most annoying and confusing quests in Wuthering Waves pops up pretty early on in the story. There will come a point where the NPC Xiaoyu wants you to wait a bit before she will message you again. The problem becomes should you wait for Xiaoyu’s message in Wuthering Waves and how long does it take?

Should You Wait for Xiaoyu’s Message in Wuthering Waves?

Once you reach Act 2 in the game in the Tiger Maw, you will get a quest known as Shadows of the Past. At one point in this quest, the game will let you know you need to “wait for Xiaoyu’s message.” That is your only objective and if you look at the quest description, it doesn’t give you much further details.

So, some players will want to know if they should wait around for her to message you. After all, you can set the time in the game to whatever you want. However, I will let you know right now do not wait for her message. No matter what you set the time to in-game or how many quests you do to kill time, her message won’t come for a very long time.

How Long Does Xiaoyu’s Message Take?

In fact, the actual amount of time the player must wait for Xiaoyu’s message to pop up in Wuthering Waves is staggering. It isn’t 20 minutes in real-time or an hour or a situation where you just need to do another quest, and you’re good to go. It takes 24 hours in real life for the message to appear.

Worse still, this is based on when you first get to this objective. That is when the 24-hour countdown begins. So, if you get to it around 8 p.m. your local time, you’ll need to wait until 8 p.m. rolls around the next day for it to pop up. This is annoying, but the way the quest objective is designed.

Wuthering Waves is available right now for Android, iOS, and PC.
