Patch 1.4.0 (v1.5.154194) is now live in Silent Hill: Townfall, with this being the update that nerfs The Weight opponent and improves its intelligence. Other changes with this patch include making enemies less sensitive to sound and adding a hint to the final puzzle in the game.

As a reminder, The Weight is a major enemy that stalks Simon through certain areas of the map. Its nature at launch usually placed it in areas where Simon is, as well as causes it to camp outside doors, thus forcing the player to wait for a long time before it turns its back and allows it to move on. If caught by The Weight, it deals an instant death attack.

With Patch 1.4.0, though, The Weight no longer camps outside objectives for long periods of time, and Konami made the tracking less aggressive. It will also stop repeatedly searching and staying in the same area. Arguably the biggest change is its attack, though. On Story and Normal modes, The Weight will only deal heavy damage instead of outright killing Simon.

Other gameplay and puzzle design improvements include a manual for the Remote Systems Control, as well as reducing enemy sensitivity to sound. Players have more time to react to enemies after escaping a grapple, and enemies (barring The Weight) can no longer try to grapple the player when they are already blocking with a melee weapon.

There are also some graphical improvements and bug fixes. This patch should reduce stutter and improve frame pacing, as well as add some missing key bindings for AZERTY keyboards. The full list of changes is available on Konami’s website.

Silent Hill: Townfall is readily available on the PS5 and Windows PC.
