Sonic has dabbled in many different game genres. Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball is a pinball game where the hedgehog is the ball. Sonic Shuffle was his version of Mario Party. It turns out, there was almost a Sonic take on skateboarding games. Liam Robertson revealed the details of Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme in a new Unseen64 video.

Vision Scape Interactive, developer of The Land Before Time: Great Valley Racing Adventure, and Razor Racing, X-Bladez: Inline Skater was working on Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme. Development began around 2002. This would be a hoverboard racing game inspired by Vision Scapes’ previous skateboarding games that involved the characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Andrew Borman of PtoPOnline found the only build of the game, and now everything we know about its gameplay stems from that. For example, the build only offered Sonic and Shadow as playable characters, a track inspired by Green Hill Zone, and Mission, Combat, and Race modes.

Unfortunately, Sonic the Hedgehog Extreme never made it past the demo stage. Had it been released, it would probably have come to the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and GameCube.
