Sonic the Hedgehog Set Based on Lego Ideas Design Dated

The Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone Lego Ideas set designed by Viv Grannell got a release date. On January 1, 2022, people will be able to pick up the 1,125-piece set. It will cost $69.99/£59.99/€69.99. It will be available in Lego stores and online. It will also include a Sonic the Hedgehog minifig that resembles the one from the Lego Dimensions set.

Grannell first submitted the design to Lego Ideas in February 2019. In February 2021, Lego announced it passed all of the approval processes and would be turned into a set.

Since it went through development online, we can see how it changed over the years. The general concept is still very similar. This Lego Ideas Sonic the Hedgehog Green Hill Zone set retains the same setting as the original idea, though the background elements are rendered in a more connected way. It also includes Sonic, a classic version of Dr. Eggman, and a Motobug. There are rings and a Phantom Ruby for Sonic to “get.” However, a few elements didn’t make it into the final version of the set. The Flickies, Heavy Gunner, Heavy Magician, and Egg Robot Mech are gone. However, you get a Crab, an Egg Robot for Dr. Eggman, 10 ring boxes, and the spring uses a Technic lever so Sonic could “jump” on it.
