In the 311 episode of the PlayStation Blogcast, Chairman of SIE Worldwide Studios Shawn Layden talked about the upcoming MediEvil revival. Other Ocean Interactive and some former members of the Guerilla Cambridge studio’s staff are working on the PlayStation 4 game, which it turns out is a MediEvil remake and not a remaster.
Here is what Layden had to say about the MediEvil remake during the podcast.
I think there have been some words that might sound alike, but mean different things–like remake and remaster. [MediEvil] is a remake. We’ve taken the original game design and we’ve taken a lot of the key art, some of the other attributes of the game design, and ethos, if you will. And we’re working with a developer called Other Ocean Interactive, and they are remaking MediEvil in that design, the original MediEvil from PSOne. The one that I worked on when I was in Tokyo.
Layden talked about the MediEvil remake starting at the 17 minute mark of the PlayStation Blogcast.
Other Ocean Interactive’s first job working on bringing a game to a different platform for a company. It worked on Minecraft: New Nintendo 3DS Edition, the PlayStation 4 version of Ultra Street Fighter IV, and the Nintendo DS version of X-Men: Destiny.
In addition, the date for a new trailer has been set. People will be able to get a look at the MediEvil remake on October 31, 2018: Halloween.
MediEvil originally appeared on the PlayStation. The MediEvil PlayStation 4 remake does not yet have a release date.
