Sony Preparing To End PlayStation Vita Production For Japan In The Near Future

Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed through its official Japanese PlayStation website that the PlayStation Vita handheld console will be ending its production in Japan in the near future.

On the page for both the Black and Aqua Blue color variants of the PS Vita it shows a newly added note stating that shipment will be ending soon, meaning production of those two remaining models will be coming to an end.

 

Sony revealed last year in an interview at TGS 2018 that the PS Vita would continue production through 2019 in Japan so we can expect shipment to go on for a few more months.

 

The PlayStation Vita first released in Japan in December 2011. It followed up with a launch in North America and Europe in February 2012.
