Sony Pushes PS3 Sales By… Offering A PlayStation Credit Card

image The PlayStation 3 isn’t getting a price break this holiday season. Sony’s solution to save you some cash is a strange one considering the current credit crunch they want to offer you a PlayStation branded credit card. If you sign up for the PlayStation credit card before December 31, 2008 you can cut $150 off the purchase a PlayStation 3. That brings the 80 GB pack down to a reasonable $249.99 an 80GB system and $349.99 for a 160GB console. However, you need to purchase the PS3 directly from the credit card sign up website and pay shipping fees which makes the final cost of the 80GB PS3 $284 and the 160GB PS3 $389. Outside of the PS3 promotion the PlayStation credit card doesn’t offer any other deals on games. It’s just a rebranded Sony Card from Chase. I’m weary to call this a deal since signing up for a credit card affects your credit score so you might want to think that over three times before taking advantage of the promotion. Oh, and Sony isn’t the first console with a credit card. Microsoft pushed an Xbox 360 branded Visa earlier this year. Images courtesy of Sony.
