Sorcery!, a four part series of adventure game books that had players fighting monsters and choosing their own paths as they read, is being steadily developed into games by developer inkle, with Sorcery! 3: The Seven Serpents as the most recent release.
The text and artwork from the original Sorcery! novels has been preserved in the game, with the developer using a similar visual style to flesh out a world for players to explore. The game has made some changes to the die-rolling combat style the novels used in combat, with players wagering amounts of stamina against a monster’s attack, essentially gambling with their lives.
Sorcery! 3: The Seven Serpents carries on from the first two parts, taking place after the player has escaped the City of Thieves. Players of the previous two games can bring their equipment and character over from those games or start new. The world is open for players to explore as they see fit, filled with thousands of choices that will shape the character’s life and death.
