Spend Summer Vacation With Monster Hunter Frontier Online

imageCapcom set June 26 as the release date for Monster Hunter Frontier Online. Microsoft has something planned for that day too, a special edition USB keyboard bundled with a code for a sword.

The version of Monster Hunter Frontier Online launching in Japan is the beginner’s package and it comes with a host of digital items. A 30 day hunter’s license and one month of Xbox Live is also part of the 6,090 yen ($68) package. The keyboard goes for 1,050 yen ($12).

Now for the bad news. Monster Hunter Frontier Online’s fees will not include Xbox Live Gold membership at launch. A news bulletin explains integration between Microsoft’s system and Capcom’s existing infrastructure was more difficult than expected to complete this before July when online service starts. So, if you want to play Monster Hunter Frontier online you may need to purchase a 1,400 yen ($15) hunter life license and have Xbox Live Gold membership. Fees sum up to roughly 2,200 yen ($24) per month, less if you purchase a longer Xbox Live Gold subscription. Capcom is checking to see if silver members will be able to play online without additional fees similar to Final Fantasy XI.

When the game was first announced, the hunter life course fee and Xbox Live Gold membership were bundled together as a 1,400 yen ($15) package.
