Hisashi Nogami took the stage during the Nintendo Switch presentation to announce Splatoon 2. After a brief trailer showing off new maps, stages, and weapons, Nogami focused in on a few details that will be new for this entry.
The Splatoon 2 video focused on 4v4 Turf War battles. People will be able to play with others either over the internet or local multiplayer. Joy-Con and Pro Controllers will be supported, as will gyro controls for aiming. Nogami also mentioned Splat Duelies, a new weapon that gives Inklings dual, ink-shooting pistols that can also propel players. They are one of multiple new standard and special weapons.
Splatoon 2 will launch in summer 2017. There will be on-going, in-game events and stage and weapon updates after launch.
