A major Splatoon 2 event has been announced. The game will be getting a worldwide New Year’s celebration, similar to Splatoween, between January 4-6, 2019. But just before that, people will receive the chance to claim four free Splatoon 2 cosmetic items via clicking through a Nintendo Switch news post in late December 2018.

Let’s start with the cosmetic items. In late December 2018, the Squid Research Lab Report News Channel will make an announcement allowing people to click a link to get an Eel-Cake Hat, Festive Party Cone, New Year’s Glasses DX, and Twisty Headband for their Inkling or Octoling to wear on their head. These items’ abilities have not yet been revealed. However, they will be free and, after seeing that news post, clicking the link present in it will immediately start the game and place you in front of a gift box in the plaza.

These items will all be perfect to wear during the Splatoon 2 Frosty Fest. Like Splatoween, Frosty Fest will completely change the appearance of Inkopolis Square and some maps. You will participate in a Splatfest for 48-hours, fighting to show if you are more excited to spend holidays with family or friends. Even ink will look different, as it will have glitter in it.
