Square Enix’s streaming service, no not Shinra Technologies, the Japanese one, Dive In, will bring games like Final Fantasy XIII to smartphones and tablets. Dive In was supposed to launch in October, but Square Enix delayed Dive In’s launch.
Starting on November 28 at 11 AM Japan time until 7 PM on November 29, Square Enix will test how Dive In works with Final Fantasy XIII. Users will be able to play one hour of Final Fantasy XIII using Dive In for free during this period. If you want to participate in the test you’ll need to download the Dive In app from Google Play which will be available on November 28 and have a Square Enix Members account registered in Japan. The test will only be available for Android and a list of supported devices can be found here.
Square Enix recommend players have a connect with at least 3Mbps of bandwidth and 6Mbps for high quality graphics. When Siliconera tried Final Fantasy XIII on Dive In, we noticed the game would try to adjust the resolution on the fly.
Season of Mystery: The Cherry Blossom Murders and Final Fantasy VII: International are scheduled to be launch titles for Dive In. Final Fantasy VIII, The Last Remnant, Murdered Soul Suspect, Final Fantasy XIII-2, and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII are scheduled to be released on Dive In in the future. Each game will have a subscription fee starting at 150 yen to play Season of Mystery for three days to 1,800 yen for access to Final Fantasy XIII for one year.
