Square Enix Jumps On The El Shaddai Meme

Originally seen on Nico Nico, a meme for El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron caught fire in Japan. The joke has Lucifel ask Enoch if he’s wearing enough armor. Enoch responds, dressed in silver armor, that there’s no problem and everything is OK.

This scene was remixed hundreds of times and now Square Enix is getting in on the internet hype with a web commercial for the official El Shddai art book. That’s right Square Enix is working with Ignition Entertainment Japan.

Bandai partnered with Ignition too after Lucifel called the company and told them God wants Bandai to make figures. For a new intellectual property (well, for the video game space) and a new studio, El Shaddai has an unusual amount of outside support. Perhaps, Ignition Japan will debut with a hit on their hands when El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron comes out on April 28 in Japan. Ignition hopes to release the game in North America this summer.
