Square Enix Trademarks "HD-2D" In Europe, A Term Used To Describe Octopath Traveler’s Style

Recommended Videos

Square Enix recently filed a bit of an interesting trademark Europe with “HD-2D” and “HD2D” a term that Square Enix used to describe the graphical art style of its Nintendo Switch RPG Octopath Traveler. [Thanks, Gematsu.]

The HD-2D term being trademarked doesn’t necessarily mean that a new Octopath Traveler game is in development, but it shows that Square Enix is looking to do something with the term in the future, perhaps to describe a new title, so a new Octopath game or something else similar is always a possibility.

Octopath Traveler is available for the Nintendo Switch.
