Square Enix wants to buy Tecmo at a 30% premium

In the eyes of Square Enix’s management, Tecmo is worth paying 30% more the current 709 yen ($6.45) price per share. If the friendly Square Enix Tecmo takeover goes through Square Enix will pay 920 yen ($8.40) a share for a company that owns intellectual properties such as Tecmo Bowl, Monster Rancher, Dead or Alive, and Ninja Gaiden. Tecmo stock has been on a steady decline since November 2007, after the stock reached its 52 week high at 1,800 yen per share ($16.45). Tecmo’s 52 week low occurred earlier this month when the stock was sold for 538 yen ($4.90) per share.

Earlier today Microsoft announced the co-published Ninja Gaiden II sold one million copies worldwide. According to the current stock price one copy of Ninja Gaiden II bought at MSRP is equivalent to around seven shares of Tecmo stock.
