Multiple retailers in Japan are taking pre-orders for two versions of Wii Fit Plus. A balance board bundle goes for 9,800 yen ($105) while a standalone game only costs 2,000 yen ($22). Nintendo never sells brand new console games for 2,000 yen at launch. That price puts Wii Fit Plus on par with a budget Simple Series game from D3 Publisher.
Maybe, Nintendo is hoping customers that purchased Wii Fit think of the standalone Wii Fit Plus disc as a reasonable upgrade. Actually, at 2,000 yen Wii Fit Plus *is* a cheap upgrade.
Wii Fit Plus is scheduled to come out in Japan on October 1. Gamestop says the game will ship in North America then too, but only list a balance board bundle.
