Star Ocean The Second Story R is giving players a taste of the upcoming full release with a brand new demo. Square Enix shadow-dropped the trial for all platforms on the same day as the September 2023 Nintendo Direct and State of Play, letting players experience the opening hours of the upcoming JRPG remake.
We don’t have to wait until the release date for Star Ocean The Second Story R to experience the 2.5D remake. The demo is available right now across PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can download and play through a significant portion of the early game. The main restriction is, you are stuck with a three-hour time limit.
The demo begins right from the start of the full release and includes approximately three cities to explore, two dungeons to complete, and two major boss battles to challenge. You’ll also be able to choose which protagonist to play as, with Claude C. Kenny and Rena Lanford’s routes available. You’ll be able to experience the action combat and three-character party system.
Star Ocean The Second Story R Demo Save Progress Carries Over
The best part about the Star Ocean The Second Story R demo is the fact you’ll be able to carry your save over to the full release. This is the actual beginning of the game, so you’ll be able to pick up from where you left off when the full game launches.
For PlayStation users, cross-generational saving is also available. If you start the demo on PS4, for instance, you’ll be able to continue on PS5 down the line. This is a great way to check out the game and see if it is right for you.
