Stay Gold is now a playable 3-star Umamusume in the Japanese version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Her pick-up banner will end on January 19, 2026.
The Umamusume version of Stay Gold has default A aptitudes in medium-distance and long-distance races, and she also has an A aptitude as a Late Surger. While she does have a B for her Pace Chaser aptitude, her unique skill is only for Late Surger and End Closer Umamusumes, so there’s no point in using her as a Pace Chaser.
Stay Gold’s unique skill, which can translate to “Visiting Gold,” slowly increases her speed in the latter half of the race. If she’s running in a race that’s over 2000m, her acceleration will increase for a short while during the last spurt. This skill means that you can actually use her as a parent for the Umamusume counterparts of her real-life children, such as Dream Journey or Gold Ship, as most of them can run as Late Surgers or End Closers.
In real life, Stay Gold was a racehorse known for consistently placing on the podium in major G1 races. He won big internationally, placing first in the Dubai Sheema Classic and the Hong Kong Vase in 2001. However, he was also known for his bad and violent temper, which is a trait that his children have inherited. His children, such as Orfevre and Gold Ship, have also become highly popular racehorses and Umamusume in their own right.
