We know exactly when Steins;Gate Re:Boot, a reboot remake of the visual novel with updated art and visuals and new story elements, will show up in Japan. Mages confirmed it will be on the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC on August 20, 2026. Physical and digital copies will be available, though there will be no retail release for the PS4 and Xbox Series X versions. Mages also stated Spike Chunsoft will handle the Xbox and PC versions, with the Steam page already live. The Japanese version will include English as a subtitle option, but Mages’ press release mentioned information about the worldwide release will arrive later.
In addition to the release date, the latest reveals included two trailers to highlight what to expect. The first is the opening movie for the latest version of the game. It features Kanako Ito’s theme song “Skyclad no Kansokusha,” which also appeared as a theme song for the original release.
There will also apparently be an E-mote animation system used in this version of the game to enhance character portraits and make conversations seem more immersive. A trailer dedicated to showing off that element highlights how it looks when Mayuri, Lukako, Faris, Kurisu, and Daru respond to Okarin.
We also know what the different editions will consist of in Japan. The base one only gives you a copy of the game. If you get a limited edition, you also get an art book, the soundtrack, and a Blu-ray and DVD of the Steins;Gate 15th Live – One World – concert. The digital deluxe version includes the art book, soundtrack, and concert video in digital forms. The most limited edition also includes the soundtrack from every Steins;Gate game and a piece of framed art by huke.
