Studio E-Go melds visual novels with tactical combat

While we’re bringing up budget re-releases it’s an opportune time to mention Castle Fantasia: Arihato Senki. Studio E-Go released this on the PlayStation 2 last year, but it slipped past my attention. If you are looking for a straight up strategy RPG you may want to pass on Castle Fantasia: Arihato Senki because in that tactics it looks rather basic. You move on a giant square grid, run up and attack or summon flaming chickens from a distance.

Really, summon flaming chickens while filling up a limit gauge to max out so you can unleash a super attack.

cfant.jpgWhat makes Castle Fantasia: Arihato Senki unique is the events after combat you wade through a choose-your-own-adventure visual novel with Huey, the protagonist. The screenshot on the right may even play out because there is always time for military cadet dates in the middle of war.
