Summon Night 5 Drops Sprites And Uses 3D Models For Battles

Felistella the stewards of the Summon Night series are making some major changes for Summon Night 5. Scans from V-Jump show 3D character models with realistic proportions. Earlier games had sprites that look kind of like Final Fantasy Tactics or Luminous Arc. Takeshi Iizuka’s artwork was adapted for Summon Night 5’s 3D models, which you can admire using an in-game character model viewer.

The game still has 2D graphics for event scenes. Summon Night 5 has animated character portraits similar to other strategy RPGs.

See the girl with the red hat? That’s Lelie and she has a crush on the protagonist. Lelie is described as an energetic and cheerful girl who loves sweets and does things at her own pace.
