Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Sells 1.23 Million In Three Days In Japan For A New Series Record

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate released worldwide on Friday and sales numbers are starting to come in with Famitsu reporting over 1.23 million copies sold in its first three days in Japan.

According to Famitsu’s sales tracker, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has sold a total of 1,238,358 units in three days from December 7 to December 9, 2018, not including digital sales. This is the highest opening week of any title in the Super Smash Bros. series.

The Nintendo Switch console also sold 278,313 units from December 3 to December 9, 2018, which is about 2.6 times more than the 107,450 units that sold the week prior. With that, it is estimated that the Nintendo Switch hardware sales total is at 6,116,566 units in Japan.

Famitsu expects to see software sales continue its stretch of sales as we head into Christmas and New Year’s.
