Supergiant Games recently took to social media network Bluesky to reassure players that its team didnāt use any generative AI (GenAI) in Hades 2. The developer also stated that it didnāt re-cast any of the actors playing its characters, and that it supports the ongoing SAG-AFTRA video game strike.

To start, it talked about how important actors are in breathing ālife and humanityā into its projects, and that it offers the āstrongest AI protections in the industryā because of how irreplaceable voice actors are. It reiterated that it didnāt use GenAI in any content in Hades 2. None of Supergiant Gamesā games were āsubject to SAG-AFTRA contracts for a variety of reasons,ā and it supports anyone who needed to pause working due to the ongoing strike. It also wishes the strike well.
Many of the replies to Supergiant Gamesās statement have been hostile. A lot of people take issue with the general statements like the āstrongest AI protections in the industryā and the āvariety of reasonsā it didnāt use SAG-AFTRA contracts before. Others have pointed out that complications arise due to Hades II having some voice actors who wouldnāt be in a union, as their primary work isnāt voice acting.
