We now know one of the English voice actors for one of the characters in Chiikawa, as the song credits for the English version of the song “Mumbling to Myself” confirmed Suzie Yeung plays Hachiware. The cat-like character is played by Makato Tanaka in Japanese. The English voice actors for Chiikawa and Usagi are still unknown.

The Season 1, Episode 11 episode “I Mutter to Myself” featured Suzie Yeung singing the series’ theme song in English for the first time as Hachiware at the end of October 2026, but her role as the voice for the character didn’t come up until the release of the acoustic version of the track. That release of the song also included the full lyrics for this version of the theme song.

You can hear that full rendition below.

To compare, here is the Japanese version of “Hitorigotsu” by Makato Tanaka.

Suzie Yeung has been quite busy lately. In addition to being the English voice of Hachiware in Chiikawa, she’s Yu’Er in Phantom Blade Zero, Yuffie in the Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, the female version of Ranma in Ranma 1/2, and Hinako in Silent Hill f.

The Chiikawa episodes are available in English on the official YouTube channel. The series is still running in Japan, with Chiikawa the Movie: The Secret of the Mermaid Island in theaters there.
