It’s the 25th anniversary of the original Final Fantasy X, and Square Enix announced a Switch 2 FFX | X-2 HD Remaster port as part of it. That will show up on the console on July 23, 2026. This announcement comes the same day as the June 2026 Summer Game Fest Nintendo Direct.
As a reminder, this is a two-game set that consists of the original Final Fantasy X JRPG for the Switch 2 and the sequel X-2. In the first, the summoner Yuna and her allies Tidus, Wakka, Lulu, Kimahri, Rikku, and Auron go on a journey for her to obtain new aeons and defeat Sin. In the sequel, Yuna, Rikku, and their new ally Paine deal with the aftermath while also investigating a mysterious person who looks like Tidus and a weapon known as Vegnagun.
We do know what to expect from this port as well. Apparently, it will be full HD and fully remastered, compared to the Switch version. It will also feature the Streamlined Progression like an ability to turn off encounters.
Here’s the official YouTube trailer for the Switch 2 FFX | X-2 HD Remaster release. The description noted the pre-order page will go live on the eShop later on June 9, 2026.
